Beachcroft Wansbroughs has won leave to appeal against the controversial Callery v Gray ruling, made last year, which dashed the hopes of defendant lawyers that the courts would limit the use of success fees in personal injury cases.

The House of Lords last week granted Beachcrofts unconditional leave to appeal the Court of Appeal’s July ruling, taking the battle over the use of conditional fees and after-the-event insurance (ATE) to the highest court in the UK.
