Given its rocky recent history, the Law Society is, unsurprisingly, more used to criticism than praise.

Yet despite the rather tarnished reputation of Chancery Lane, there are at last encouraging signs that the society’s more progressive elements are beginning to make some progress in the vital field of regulation. Certainly, by comparison to the Bar Council, which has its head buried firmly in the sand when it comes to all things regulatory, of late, the Law Society has come across as being a beacon of common sense.
