Clearys pledges to maintain staff levels

Top US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has pledged not to lay off any of its staff despite the continuing slowdown in the US economy.

In an internal statement released this week by associate committee member Stephen Shalen, the firm said it would never lay off staff for economic reasons.
