Virtually every firm has its forward strategy, its budgets and business plans for the coming year. Does this mean every firm is prepared for change? Well, some are impressively well prepared and others are kidding themselves. Some have seen the present downturn in work and have planned for it; others have been hit like a bolt from the blue.
The legal profession has its own lumpers, sitting like King Canute asking the waves of change to recede. They are likely to be as successful as King Canute; history is against them.
