Herbert Smith is the only UK firm to have gained a top 10 place in the latest worldwide rankings for global M&A for completed deals – thanks to its alliance with leading German firm Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch Rechtsanwalte.
Herbert Smith and Gleiss Lutz, ranked together, completed 71 deals worth £198bn, according to figures released last week by Thomson Financial. The result sees the firms beat nearest City rival Linklaters & Alliance, which ranked 15th in value terms, despite completing 207 deals.
