Berwins hired to probe Express sale

Northern & Shell has called in SJ Berwin to investigate its acquisition of Express Newspapers – snubbing the company’s previous adviser Linklaters.

Northern & Shell has asked Berwins to investigate the legal position of the Express acquisition last November and advise the company on a dispute over £4m in unpaid tax with the group’s vendor, United Business Media.
