A coalition of the UK’s leading law firms has been formed to lobby the Government over incoming Financial Services Authority (FSA) powers, which are feared will place transactional law firms under FSA regulation.

The group is being spearheaded by Tim Herrington and Guy Morton, partners respectively at Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, with the hope that the Government will amend existing regulations to distinguish legal advice on corporate deals from investment activity.
