One Bar. Chairmen of the Bar, present and the past, claim that this is the goal they work for. It signifies the end of all the bickering and distrust between barristers.

The majority of barristers practice independently from chambers; the minority are employed by commercial companies, banks and government services, or work as academics. It is this minority that has been looked down upon by the private practitioners, who take the view that many employed barristers ‘gave it a go’ at the independent bar first and only took a job because it did not work out.
