Simmons & Simmons acted on the establishment of Claire (Contaminated Land Application in Real Environments), the public-private partnership formed to find solutions relating to land contamination. The partnership includes English Partnerships, the Environment Agency and the Department of Environment Transport and the Regions. Environment partner Mike Nash and charities partner Robert Meakin led the team.

CMS Cameron McKenna acted for Universal Cinemas International on its joint venture with an undisclosed financial investor to form UCI (Central Europe) BV, a Dutch-based company. The value of the deal was approximately £31.25m. The company will establish multiplex cinemas throughout Central Europe with an initial emphasis on the Czech Republic and Hungary. Central and Eastern European corporate partner Duncan Weston led the team, assisted by Paul Tanner. Clifford Chance, led by commercial contracts and competition partner Alan Jones and assisted by Louise Harris, advised the financial investor.
