Following PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) move to open a law firm – Evans & Co – in its Dublin office, the Law Society of Ireland has made disapproving noises, but has refused to comment due to the ‘sensitivity’ of the matter.

“The Law Society does not believe multi-disciplinary partnerships (MDPs) are in the interests of the public and the profession,” a spokesman said – adding only that the society was reviewing and monitoring the situation. There is a feeling of inevitability that whatever the society’s views, practices such as Evans & Co have arrived and are unlikely to go away.
