With the retirement of M&A stalwart Nigel Boardman, eyes are on the next generation of corporate partners at Slaughter and May to see who might take on the biggest mandates of the future.

One of the most hotly tipped among insiders is Slaughters corporate partner Paul Mudie. He was Boardman’s trainee and has acted on some of the biggest headline deals of the past few years, including advising Shire on its proposed £27 billion merger with AbbVie, and leading on the $3.3 billion battle for plastics company RPC.
