King Charles III, in his first King’s Speech marking the opening of Parliament earlier this month, included in his discussion of the government’s legislative agenda a plan to reform the country’s Arbitration Act of 1996. The proposed legislation includes a number of key reforms regarding the governing law of an arbitration agreement, arbitrator impartiality, summary disposition of disputes, and more.
