A number of former magic circle partners, KCs and academics have united to launch a taskforce to examine the provision of legal services by U.K.-based firms to overseas oligarchs and kleptocrats.

The taskforce, launched by the Institute of Business Ethics, is designed to shed light on the increasingly thorny ethical dilemmas posed by U.K. law firms advising oligarchs and kleptocrats. It is expected to share its recommendations with law firms, regulators, law makers and other stakeholders within 12 months.
