The excitement around generative AI, which exploded earlier this year, appears to have been tempered in recent weeks by a series of concerns around copyright.

Earlier this month, a copyright infringement class action was launched against OpenAI Inc., amid allegations it unlawfully exploited copyrighted works to train its large language models. OpenAI is the creator of Chat GPT and legal tech platform Harvey. The company is already defending itself against similar actions from, among others, comedian Sarah Silverman.
