Big Four Japanese law firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto has bolstered its international dispute resolution practice with the hire of New York-admitted attorney Misaki Kodama, who was most recently a deputy director at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), as a foreign lawyer in Tokyo.

Kodama worked at the multilateral trade system department at METI’s trade policy bureau for five years on matters relating to the anti-dumping agreement and government procurement agreement, as well as free trade and economic partnership negotiations on trade agreements. Additionally, she focused on matters involving World Trade Organization dispute settlement procedures for parties and third parties as the lead attorney in charge.
