Tokyo-based Atsumi & Sakai, one of Japan’s largest law firms, has strengthened its corporate and real estate development practices with the hire of Aoi Koyanagi as a partner from White & Case in Tokyo, where she was most recently an associate.

In January this year, the Tokyo-based firm also hired international projects lawyer Daniel Jarrett as a partner from Ashurst, where he had practiced for nearly 12 years in London and Tokyo respectively. Before that, in May last year, Japan and New York-qualified intellectual property litigation lawyer Harukuni Ito joined as a partner from Jones Day in Tokyo, where he had practiced for close to 14 years and was a counsel at the time of the hire.
