U.K. corporate heavyweights Slaughter and May and Linklaters both dropped significantly down the U.K. legal adviser M&A rankings in the first six months of the year amid a torrid transactional market.

Linklaters, which had placed first in the whole of 2022, dropped to seventh place, completing 22 deals up to a total combined value of $7.3 billion, according to the latest Refinitiv rankings for domestic M&A in H1 2023. Slaughters, second in 2022, also suffered from the slow deal market, dropping from 5th to 16th place, having worked on 11 announced U.K. deals over the period.
