One early morning in 2017, Pedro Siza Vieira, then a Linklaters partner, received a phone call from Portugal Prime Minister António Costa, asking him if he wanted a change in his life. Siza Vieira was given a few hours to consult his family and partners and make a decision. Three days later, he was sworn in as a member of the Cabinet.

Previously a partner at Morais Leitão, then managing partner at Linklaters in Lisbon from 2006-2016, Siza Vieira served as an economy minister during his five years in government. As of September, he has returned to private practice as a partner at PLMJ.
