A few colleagues and I were recently discussing what exactly is meant by the term Big Law. Do all commercial law firms on our radar qualify or is it just for the biggest of big firms?

Implicit in the terminology is an assumption that there is a class of law firms that are set apart by their size. This is true. The scale of their operations, the complexity of their international networks and the demands of their clients make the largest law firms unique institutions with unique challenges.
