A Hogan Lovells Paris partner is the latest to launch a boutique in the city, leading a six-strong team exit from the firm to set up his own outfit.

Paris banking and finance litigation head Julien Martinet has left the firm after four years to set up his own litigation law firm, taking with him four associates and one intern.

The team is taking major client matters with them, including for French and foreign banks, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

The newly founded firm, Swift Litigation, will be headquartered on the Rue de Monceau in Paris and will specialise in complex and serious litigation.

Swift Litigation has also hired an additional associate and intern to join the firm, the person added.

A spokesperson for Hogan Lovells said: "Julien made a good contribution to the firm and we wish him all the best."

It is the latest departure from the firm's Paris office in recent weeks for a boutique. Tax partner Laurent Ragot left last month to join a recently launched 24 lawyer private equity and M&A firm.

The launches come amid a spate of new boutique launches in the French capital in recent months. In January, two senior partners at Dentons broke away also to form their own arbitration firm.
