U.K.-based law firms have taken the top five spots in the annual U.K. M&A adviser rankings for the first time in six years.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills, Slaughter and May, Linklaters and Clifford Chance advised on the highest value of completed U.K. deals in 2021, according to data from Refinitiv. It is the first time since 2015 that only U.K.-based law firms have filled the top five spots, as U.S.-based law firms have increasingly taken market share in transactional work over the last decade.
