With several rounds of bonus battles already in the books this season, Sidley Austin has joined in, announcing year-end bonuses in line with market rates, as well as extra rewards for top-billing associates. That follows a year in which the firm increased salaries to match the market and introduced new programs for associates to gain specialized business training and receive new titles for their seniority.

In a firm memo, where it announced the bonuses, the firm also made note of the associate salary scale it adopted this year, in which each class will move up a rung next year. Salaries will increase by between $10,000 and $35,000, depending on class, with salaries going to $215,000 next year from $205,000 this year for 2020 associates, in following with the prevailing Big Law scale.
