As COVID-19 began to take hold globally in March 2020, the Lord Chief Justice issued a strong message on behalf of England and Wales’ judiciary, stating that it was “of vital importance that the administration of justice does not grind to a halt” and that there was “an urgent need to increase the use of telephone and video technology immediately to hold remote hearings where possible.”
