Linklaters, Latham & Watkins and White & Case are among eight law firms to offer free legal advice to support those eligible to apply for the Windrush compensation scheme.
The scheme was set up by the U.K. Home Office in 2019, after it emerged that many people that had been invited to the U.K. from Caribbean countries between 1948 and 1971, and had subsequently lived and worked in the U.K. for decades, were told that they and their relatives were illegally living in the U.K. and consequently detained, deported and denied legal rights.
