Allen & Overy Launches LA Office With 19-Lawyer Akin Gump Raid

Dutchmen Photography/Shutterstock.comAllen & Overy is opening a Los Angeles office, bringing on board 19 lawyers, including six partners, from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld who will focus on renewable energy matters.
A year and a half after the London-based firm scuttled plans for a tie-up with O’Melveny & Myers, Allen & Overy is moving forward on another vision for growing stateside, with its biggest group hire since opening in Washington, D.C., in 2011. The firm follows Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Ashurst’s recent expansion to the West Coast.
