“Stupid” is how Jolyon Maugham QC now describes the tweet he sent on Boxing Day 2019, when he announced to the internet that he had killed a fox in his back garden with a baseball bat, while wearing a kimono. Unnerving visuals aside, his actions and delivery of the news spawned much outrage.
Just over a year on, Maugham has revisited the furore, claiming in tweets on Sunday that Allen & Overy told his former Chambers, where he worked at the time, that it would not be sending it work in response to his back garden actions.
