Dorsey & Whitney has recruited Akerman partner Carlos Méndez-Peñate in New York, where he will co-chair the firm’s Latin America and the Caribbean practice group.

At Akerman, Méndez-Peñate served in the same role and also was managing partner of the firm’s New York office until May of this year. His departure follows that of Felipe Berer, who was head of Akerman’s Brazil practice until he jumped to Reed Smith‘s global disputes group and Latin America business team in June.
