In the latest move to prepare for a hard Brexit, firms including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, DLA Piper, Baker McKenzie and Eversheds Sutherland are reevaluating their partnership structures in Austria to ensure they can continue operating in the region once the transition period ends on December 31.

Over the past few years, U.K.-headquartered law firms have been preparing for a hard Brexit eventuality by examining European jurisdictions individually, such as Germany, while also ramping up the number of lawyers they have admitted to the Irish Roll of Solicitors, all in a bid to ensure they have European-qualified lawyers post-Brexit.
