Tax A total of 26% of respondents saw the UK tax regime as a deterrent. In fact, if properly structured at an early stage, investors into the UK can benefit from a very generous tax regime. A typical structure might take the form of the diagram on page 24 (click the link above to view). The offshore company is subject to UK tax on its net rental income. Deductions are available for interest, depreciation and management expenses. But critically, interest paid under certain shareholder loans is also deductible. The offshore company is not subject to UK capital gains tax. This presents overseas investors with a distinct advantage over a standard UK resident investor.
