I sometimes miss being a soldier. There is something unique about being part of an organisation that at times can produce results against all the odds, as well as one that, on occasion, is capable of unflinching silliness. A friend, still serving, cheered me up with a text message a few months ago as I stood on a crowded commuter train at the end of a long day in the office.
