Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters are among a host of firms advising on Xstrata’s $4.5bn (£2.8bn) multi-tranche ‘Yankee’ bond issue, which closed on 25 October.

The four-part Xstrata issue is one of the largest Yankee (a dollar-denominated bond issued by a foreign company) issues launched in the US markets so far this year, according to Freshfields corporate partner Doug Smith, who co-ordinated the placing for Xstrata, alongside fellow London-based partner Piers Prichard Jones.
