Berwin Leighton Paisner's (BLP) Moscow arm has generated revenues of $23m (£15.3m) in its first full financial year as the firm moves to build up a local tax practice. The firm argued that the launch of the tax practice has been a major factor in building its local revenues after it merged with half of Russian practice Pepeliaev Goltsblat & Partners to become Goltsblat BLP in January 2009. The firm has grown its tax practice from two to 11 lawyers in the last 12 months. The move pitches the firm into direct competition with its legacy practice, which has relaunched as Pepeliaev Group and is regarded as one of Russia's top tax practices.
