Charles Plant has been appointed as the new chair of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) board.
Plant, a former partner at Herbert Smith (where he is currently a consultant), will take up the new role on 1 January, 2010. He will replace current chair Peter Williamson, who announced in May that he had decided not to reapply for the post.
