Personal information on barristers across England and Wales has been stolen following a break-in at the London office of the Bar Council. Contact details and other data - including bank details and information on 1,500 complaints against barristers - were taken from the Bar Council's offices in Central London at the end of last week (12 December).While bank account numbers and sort codes of 3,000 members were taken, the data did not include any passwords, debit or credit card numbers or pin numbers.According to the Bar Council the information stolen, which was held on a laptop and four computer hard drives, was well protected and is not readily accessible.
