The Legal Services Commission (LSC) is set to cut 600 staff and eight processing sites in an effort to cut back on expenses in the £2bn legal aid budget. The cuts will see a reduction in headcount at the LSC from 1,700 to 1,100 by 2010 as it streamlines processes. In addition, the LSC directorate is cutting its number of sites from 13 to five over the next three to five years.
