The Law Society has settled a long-running £10m dispute with a group of law firms and insurers over money paid out from its compensation fund. The dispute, which involved a number of insurers and 12 sets of proceedings against different law firms, settled last week, around four years after the Law Society filed a claim to try and retrieve the money it had previously paid from the fund.
