In these days of financial turmoil and uncertainty, the focus of attention for many has become the maintenance of capital, rather than the rate of return it might earn. Suddenly the previously cautious strategy of keeping cash has brought with it an element of uncertainty, with governments across the world seeking to reassure their citizens that the banking system is safe.These fears have taken people's minds away from less dramatic financial issues, such as inheritance tax. However, the fact remains that many governments, including our own, still take a large part of their citizens' estates from them when they die.
