It used to be the case that the decision to move offshore was based first and foremost on lifestyle considerations; a bid to replace punishing hours, gloomy weather, long commutes and nosebleed taxes with an easier and more family-friendly life in the sun. Certainly the lifestyle attractions of offshore are undeniable, particularly if you choose a Caribbean jurisdiction like the British Virgin Islands (BVI) or Cayman, where the weather is almost invariably sunny, the scenery is spectacular and the outdoor activities are world class.

What is sometimes less well publicised is the excellent quality of work and career prospects available offshore. No longer seen as a choice between career and quality of life, shifts from City to offshore now offer a generous helping of both.
