For the first time, the chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA's) Section of International Law is located outside the US, the latest example of globalisation in the legal industry and the ABA's growing reach abroad. The number of foreign lawyers who are members of the section has climbed to 18,000, up more than 30 percent from five years ago. Well known in places like the UK, the ABA is slowly becoming a more familiar name in other parts of Europe, say lawyers.
