The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has today (7 June) issued a public apology after more than 36,000 lawyers were overcharged on their contributions to the Compensation Fund. After what the body described as an "administrative error", the affected solicitors were handed a £500 bill instead of the required £400 contribution for 2006-07, while others were charged £250 instead of £200.
