Allen & Overy (A&O) has hired former name partner of embattled class action giant Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman, Patricia Hynes, as the magic circle giant looks to strengthen its New York litigation practice. Hynes, who joins A&O’s 25-lawyer US litigation group as senior counsel, is one of the most prominent lawyers to have left the New York firm since its indictment in May. Last month, Milberg pleaded not guilty to charges of secretly paying more than $11m (£5.8m) in kickbacks to claimants in class action lawsuits.
