San Francisco heavyweight Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has appointed veteran chair Mary Cranston to the newly-created role of senior partner, as the national giant gears up for major changes to its management.

Cranston will take up the new role when her term as chair ends in December, with a brief to maintain her client links and act as non-executive adviser to the San Francisco-based firm’s incoming management. For the remainder of her term, Cranston will also work with the new chair, who Pillsbury hopes to vote in at its partners’ retreat in May.
