Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) is to become the latest UK firm to introduce an alternative rank to partner, as well as a formalised performance measure for its assistants, following the conclusion of a review of its assistant career development path.

BLP’s board agreed the changes on 24 January and will add a new rank in the firm, which will act as an alternative to partner, although the firm has yet to decide on a name for the role.
