marino binA long time in the making, the new Italian Insurance Code was approved on 2 September of this year, and will come into force on 1 January, 2006.

It is a substantial endeavour (consisting of 355 provisions) bringing back order and methodology to Italian insurance law, which until now has been disorganised and split into a collection of separate laws frequently designed merely to put into effect the no-less fragmented European Union (EU) Directives.
