German competition law has been undergoing considerable reform, aimed at moving the national law closer in line with European legislation.

Part of a bundle of legislative reforms adopted by the German legislators in the final moments before the summer break – the Seventh Amendment of the German Act against Restraints of Competition (GWB) – will finally bring German antitrust law into line with its European Union (EU) counterpart. In addition, the long-awaited reform will reduce the administrative bureaucracy commonly associated with antitrust law cases in Germany.
