Then and now

In the 1990s, we advised a law firm where all the partners in one of its offices were about to resign to join a competitor. The law firm was concerned about protecting its position and ensuring a continued service to the clients affected. So it was somewhat surprised to hear our suggestion, which was to sell the office/team as a whole. Yet when the competitor firm was approached about this, it resulted in our client receiving a substantial capital sum and removal of what was a loss-making office.
