As part of its aim to make Singapore a total business hub, the Singapore Government has, since the 1990s, implemented various measures to develop the country as a centre for international arbitration. This began with the establishment of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), which has seen steady growth in terms of the number of cases handled annually.
At the inaugural National Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Forum on 15 January this year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Law Professor S Jayakumar outlined the latest efforts that have been made towards achieving this goal.
