Product evolution is driven by the needs of the consumer. For this to work well, the customer’s requirements must be clearly communicated to the designer and manufacturer.

All too often this does not happen in the legal profession. There should be a symbiosis between the profession and the software companies. But the importance of the developer is often overlooked. It was Stradivarius who produced the definitive violin, not a composer or a player. The skills of those who craft the ‘instruments’ that the experts use should be better understood, and there should be a constructive dialogue between the developer and customer.
