The single joint expert (SJE) is a creation of the current Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) first introduced in 1999.
It is one of a number of facilities available to the court to assist in streamlining the use of expert evidence in a particular matter and, ultimately, reducing the cost of the litigation process. But in practice, does it achieve this?
