Technology has come a long way since the first telephone call was made possible by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876, yet the way in which the telephone works is virtually unchanged.

For the legal profession, the telephone is a valued and trusted communications tool whose absence would see many practices grind to a halt. While the idea of ripping out an existing phone system to replace it with new technology is likely to be sensitive, there are, however, some convincing arguments why an alternative should be considered.
